Aikido

Aikido is a martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba O-sensei, a master in jujutsu, kenjutsu, jojutsu, and other weapons techniques.

Aikido is a comprehensive martial art that encompasses various training elements. The main components of Aikido training include taijutsu (unarmed empty hand techniques) as well as bukijutsu (weapons techniques), specifically kenjutsu (sword techniques) and jojutsu (staff techniques).

Aikido is a unique martial art, and its most distinctive feature when compared to other martial arts is the ability to utilize the opponent's energy and momentum, rather than relying solely on one's own strength and physical power.  As a result, there is minimal physical contact, allowing individuals not only young men but also such as women and senior practitioners who may have lower physical strength compared to younger men to engage in the practice of techniques on par with opponents who are physically stronger.

Aikido also involves whole-body movements with taking ukemi (receiving throwing techniques), making it excellent for maintaining physical health and flexibility.

We welcome all adults of any age.

Promotion system

Our promotion and ranking evaluations are conducted in accordance with the criteria set by the parent organizations, the USAF (United States Aikido Federation) and the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan.

Therefore, if a kyu promotion (white belts) is approved, the certificate will be issued by the USAF, which is affiliated with the Aikikai Hombu Dojo.  If a dan rank promotion (black belts) is approved, the certificate will be issued and registered with the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan, establishing recognition as the black belt ranked practitioner of Aikikai worldwide.
